Hanging Non-Clothes Items

Thule navy and grey laptop backpack hanging on a wooden door.

Some items sell better when hung than in a bag. Consider hanging items like diaper bags, backpacks, play mats, blankets, and pocketbooks.

If you are unsure how best to hang an item, either reach out to us on Messenger or our Facebook Sellers Group. You can also bring the item with you to check-in and we will help get it hung the best way possible.

When hanging items, be sure to secure the item to the hanger.  For items like blankets, place a pin under the hanger and through as much fabric as possible to ensure the item does not shift or move.

Items like Sleepers and buggy / shopping cart covers sell better when hung. Ensure you have safety pins securing the item to the hanger.  If the item is heavy or bulky, consider multiple pins to keep it secure.  Folks buy items that look great on the hanger.

PLASTIC HANGER GUIDANCE

We are excited to change our policy and allow either plastic or wire hangers at the Spring / Summer 2026 sale. We heard from many consignors - new and returning - who were having a hard time finding wire hangers.  Hangers should not keep us from having a great sale!

We will allow these store hangers ONLY IF the items are PINNED to the hanger. We want your items to sell and pieces (or all of an article of clothing) on the floor is not going to be purchased.  You bring your items in the best condition, we want to keep them that way.

These pants hangers will NOT be accepted.  See the below pictures for guidance on hanging pants with plastic hangers (guidance for wire hangers is in the previous section).

Plastic Hangers here we come!!

Infant and toddler clothes can fit on an adult hanger.  This 18-24 month is on an adult hanger.  While the item may not move around a lot, we still ask that you consider adding at least one pin to keep the item from falling off the hanger. ESPECIALLY if you are using a child hanger.

Make sure the pants are attached to the hanger completely.  As we mentioned under the wire hangers section, try to put as much fabric in the safety pin as possible.  This ensures the pants do not slide around.  Here, we used the notch to pin the pants, preventing movement.  THIS WOULD BE GREAT FOR JUNIOR PANTS - USING THE NOTCH TO PIN, as junior pants are the curse of the sale! Ask any volunteer.

The notch on a plastic hanger is also preferred for those items that are straps or have thin top portions. Again, this method will keep your item on the hanger, off the floor, and in the best condition for the shopper to see your item.

Sets, Sets, & more Sets

Sets are fantastic at a consignment sale!  At least one item of the set MUST be fully on the hanger.  The other items will then be attached to the outside of the first item - NOT inside or under the hanging item.  We know it is cute to put sets together but the buyer needs to be able to see all of the items fully and be able to inspect the item.

To show off your set in the best way, AND to ensure the buyer can inspect all pieces of the set, remember to attach the extra items to the back of the item you placed fully on the hanger.  Make sure they are pinned together securely AND the safety pin is around the hanger. With plastic hangers this will require bigger pins.

SETS MUST BE OF THE SAME SIZE.  They do not have to be the same brand but they must be the same size.  We understand that some brands run smaller or larger to their listed size BUT we will not put on the floor sets with different sizes. If you have an item that does not run true to size, enter it as it's own item and you can put the wearable size on the tag,

Miscellaneous items

Some items sell better on hangers. Swaddles, burp cloths, nursing covers, and play mats are some examples.  Hang them to show off their shape and how they should be used.

Blankets and bedding sell better when hung and the buyer can inspect the entire item.

When hanging bedding and blankets, make sure to secure the edges with a safety pin so the item does not slide or come off the hanger. Items on the floor do not sell.
